Ridge View Dance Marathon
Ridge View High school is proud to partner with the University of Iowa Dance Marathon as an off campus, “mini” marathon. We share the UofIDM mission of raising funds to create and sustain projects that provide emotional support and services for children (and their families) with Pediatric Cancer, receiving treatment at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. All money raised at our marathon goes directly to these families, in the form of food and parking vouchers and items needed for hospital stays and treatments.
Our “Mini”Marathon will be January 27, at the Ridge View High School, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. The evening will be filled with dancing, games and activities, such as “No Hair, Don’t Care”, for hair donation. Our marathon has traditionally been supported by students and their individual fundraising efforts, as well as donations from community members and businesses.
We also held Pediatric Cancer Awareness activities and fundraisers in September, the official month for Pediatric Cancer awareness. This year the Ridge View football team wore gold ribbon decals on their helmets, the Ridge View Volleyball team wore gold ribbons in their hair and shoes. The Ridge View cheerleaders wore gold ribbons, the Cross Country team wore gold ribbons and the Marching Band wore yellow bandanas to show their support of this important cause. Mrs. Kohn and her art students also painted yellow ribbons on the football field.
In addition, the Ridge View halls were filled with awareness posters, sharing information and support. We sold Pediatric Cancer Awareness tattoos, buttons and bracelets and held a lemonade stand.
Our High School is committed to this cause and are hoping to reach our goal of $3,000. Please help us make the Ridge View Dance Marathon the greatest yet! We are happy to accept any donations toward our goal and invite all to attend the 2024 Ridge View High School’s Mini Dance Marathon!
Mrs. Warren's Forensics Students showed off their crime scenes they have been working on all semester. Student groups prepared and set up the crime scene- complete with stories, mock interviews, actual evidence, and a police report. The other groups spent today trying to solve the other crimes.
Never fear- no victims were harmed in the creating of the semester projects!
Reminder: Tonight's basketball games at Siouxland Christian is a JV/VAR boys game starting at six o'clock.

Raptor Nation: UPDATES ON POSTPONEMENTS/CANCELLATIONS/CHANGES
- The basketball games scheduled for Friday, January 12th have been moved to January 15th (Varsity only) with a five o'clock start time in Holstein.
- The Western Valley Conference wrestling tournament has been rescheduled to the Conference make up date of Monday, January 22nd at four o’clock. We will host the tournament in the Schaller gymnasium.
- The JV Girls/JVR/JV Boys basketball games that were scheduled with South Central Calhoun for Monday, January 15th have been canceled.
- The JH basketball games with Alta- Aurelia (Monday) and East Sac County (Thursday) that were postponed from last week will not be made up.
- There has been a change in location of the January 22nd JH Girls Basketball game: it will now be played in Pierson instead of a home game.
- The Varsity Girls basketball game postponed from Monday, January 8th will now be made up Thursday, February 8th at 4:30 in Storm Lake (Varsity only)
If there are additional changes, we will communicate those changes ASAP

The Middle School Karl King Honor Band Event scheduled for this Saturday, Jan. 13th in Fort Dodge has been postponed to Saturday, Jan. 20th.
The Archery Tournament schedule for Saturday, Jan. 13th, in Lawton has been cancelled due to the forecasted weather.
The NWICDA High School Honor Choir schedule for Monday, Jan. 15th at Dordt College has postponed to a later date TBD due to the scheduled frigid forecast.
Ridge View FFA Soup Supper is taking place this Friday night during the home basketball games in the Ag Classroom starting at 5:30pm.
Activity Calendar Change: The JVR boys basketball Tournament originally scheduled on Thursday, January 11th has been canceled.
