ELITE RAPTORS ALERT: I often times talk with friends and colleagues about the many special accomplishments that our kids achieve. I truly believe we are different. Raptor nation isn't perfect but it is our continued efforts to become better each and everyday. It's the process and belief that we are going to be the best versions of ourselves. Another example came across my desk this morning that Raptor Nation needs to be aware of. The Dance Marathon group set a goal to raise $3,000 dollars to donate towards the University of Iowa Cancer Research. Today, we are sending $6,156.29 to that organization as a result of the efforts from the dance marathon. Another example of OUR communities rallying around OUR kids for a greater cause. It's easy to see ELITE when it is on display at a game or match or competition, but it doesn't stop there. CONGRATULATIONS to the students and leaders who took part in the marathon and gave another example of being ELITE! #CLAWS UP! #BeELITE!
ELITE RAPTORS ALERT: What a week they had! Congratulations to our 6 qualifiers, who place 13th overall out of 150 teams being represented at the state tournament. Special shout out to our 3 podium place winners. Tatum Shepherd finishing in 6th place, Izzy Deeds finishing in 4th place, and Destiny Brown with a runner-up finish. CLAWSUP!
REMINDER: Tonight's the night! Let the Ridge View Large Group Speech students entertain you at 7:00pm in the Rosemary Clausen Center for the Performing Arts.

Tatum Shepherd Receives IBA Student Athlete Achievement Award for Girls Wrestling.
Shepherd of Ridge View High School presented with $1,000 college scholarship at Iowa High School Girls State Wrestling Tournament.
JOHNSTON, IOWA (Feb. 5, 2024) — Each year, the Iowa Bankers Association presents the Student Athlete Achievement Award to student-athletes who excel not only in athletics, but also scholastically and in their communities. Tatum Shepherd, a student at Ridge View High School, was presented the scholarship award at the second state-sanctioned Iowa High School Girls State Wrestling Tournament
held Feb. 1-2 in Coralville.
“Tatum is not only a gifted student and decorated athlete, but she is also a positive leader,” said Joel Brus, Ridge View High School 7-12 activities director. “Having the opportunity to accompany Tatum at the inaugural girls’ state wrestling tournament last year, it was easy to see that Tatum’s spirit shined through as an ambassador for all girls across the state. Tatum’s leadership is also evident with her position on the IGHSAU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the past two years.”
Cara Godfredson, marketing director at Citizens First National Bank in Storm Lake, presented Shepherd with the $1,000 scholarship to the college of her choice.
“The Iowa Bankers Association is proud to recognize remarkable high school seniors that are leaders on their teams, in the classroom and in their community,” said Jenica Lensmeyer, the IBA’s vice president of marketing and industry relations. “As long-time supporters of financial literacy, Iowa bankers are committed to helping Iowans reach their financial goals. We know that these scholarship recipients have a bright future, and we hope that they will continue to contribute to Iowa communities following
graduation.”
For three decades, the IBA has sponsored the Student Athlete Achievement Award program, which has grown to honor student-athletes in football, basketball and wrestling. The IBA has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships since the program began.
Congratulations to you, Tatum!
