The Galva-Holstein Preschoolers learned the characteristics of mammals from the Ida County Naturalist, Danielle Bennett. The students sorted animals into two groups, "Mammal" or "Not a Mammal." They also made a craft and played a game with Ms. Danielle!

ELITE RAPTOR ALERT: Yesterday our Ridge View High School Girls Track team travelled to Vermillion to compete in the 2024 Dan Lennon Invitational Meet. Madison Stowater placed 1st in the High Jump with a 5'4" jump. Jaycie Vohs placed 5th in the 3200m run. Congratulations girls!!

Mrs. Vogt's 2nd grade class at Galva-Holstein Elementary have all become published authors!! Each student wrote about what they want to be when they grow up. It is called "The Future is so Bright for the Class of 2034".

The 4th graders at the Galva-Holstein Elementary had some fun visitors today! In conjunction with Ag in the Classroom, Danika Hinkeldey brought baby lambs for the students to observe. The kids loved all of the lamb snuggles. Special thanks to Danika Hinkeldey, Jayden Friedrichsen, and Jared Hinkeldey for taking time out of your day and teaching the 4th graders about lambs.

Danika Hinkeldey, with Ida County Farm Bureau's Ag in the Classroom, Jared Hinkeldey of Galva and Jayden Friedrichsen of OABCIG brought in bottle lambs today to the Galva-Holstein Lower Elementary. The students learned about sheep, lambs and got to hold and feed them! A big thank you to all involved!

RIDGE VIEW CONGRATULATIONS: The Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association has established a new award: Athletic Administrative Assistant EMERITA. The purpose of the award is to recognize those who have served a minimum of 25 years aiding the daily efforts of the Athletic Director. The IHSADA is proud to congratulate and announce that Dena Stille has earned this title through her hard work and dedication toward students, administration, district and community! Dena Stille served as the A.D. Administrative Assistant for 35 years with the Galva-Holstein CSD, retiring in 2016! Congratulations and Thank You for your years of service Dena!!

Their project, "The Walk to Freedom, Iowa's Underground Railroad," qualified to advance to the state competition. Their research and attention to detail are impressive.

The lower and upper G-H Elementary students were visited by representives of the American Heart Association (who is celebrating it's 100th year) today to kick off the Kid's Heart Challenge. Students will be asking for donations to help the kids of families who have someone with a sick heart and to raise money for medical advances.

This past Friday, we had 5 high school students travel to Des Moines for the State Archery Tournament which is a 2 day event. Pictured are (l to r): Tristan Werner, Carter Padavich (unable to attend due to district FFA), Robert Forristal, Kinzie Hagen, Erica Taylor, and Corbin Smith. These archers had to qualify with an average score of 266 for bullseye and 263 for 3D in order to qualify for State. These archers average scores are much higher than that. Erica Taylor shot a 272, Robert Forristal shot a 267, Tristan Werner shot a 258, Corbin Smith shot a 257, and Kinzie Hagen shot a 251. Congratulations Archers!!!
